The Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) is the primary component of the East Hartford Police Department responsible for investigative services. It is composed of four distinct divisions: General Investigations, Juvenile Investigations, Narcotics Investigations, and Evidentiary Services. CIB is staffed by a combination of veteran officers holding the rank of Detective or Investigator. In addition, CIB under the Juvenile Investigations Division, is responsible for implementing and maintaining the uniformed School Resource Officer (SRO) program.
The Criminal Investigations Bureau is organized to handle a wide variety of complex investigations which require significant time, technical investigative experience, investigative resource networks, and the flexible application of personnel with specialized skills and training.
