The East Hartford Police Department is currently investigating a Homicide by gunfire that occurred on Wednesday October 19, 2005, 22:53hrs, at 1268 Main Street, The Venus Lounge.
On the evening of October 19, 2005, the victim, Felix Martinez, and a friend were at Kahoot’s Bar, 639 Main Street. The two were asked to leave the bar after being involved in a dispute with one of the dancers. They then went to the Venus Lounge and arrived there at approximately 21:30hrs. At approximately 22:45hrs, Martinez had an argument with a patron and then with his friend and was subsequently escorted from the club by the owner. Once outside, Martinez and his friend began to argue again. As they continued to argue in the driveway of the Venus, a gold/tan vehicle pulled into the driveway. Witnesses reported that the vehicle appeared to strike or come close to striking Martinez. Martinez then hit the hood of the vehicle with his hands. The passenger then exited the vehicle and began to argue
with Martinez. While the passenger and Martinez were arguing, the operator exited the vehicle walked up to Martinez and shot him one time in the face with a handgun. Both the operator and passenger got back into the vehicle and left the scene north on Main Street.
Witnesses describe the vehicle as a gold or tan, late model, mid-sized vehicle. The vehicle was believed to have a Connecticut registration plate, tinted windows and possibly an aftermarket stereo system with blue lights emanating from the stereo or dash area.
Witnesses describe the suspects as follows:
The operator/shooter: Black / Male, Medium complexion, Early to mid 20’s, Thin build, 5’11”- 6’2” tall, 155 – 185 pounds.
The passenger: Black / Male, Dark complexion, mid to late 20’s, Medium build, 5’8”-5’11” tall. 155 – 175 pounds.
