NEWS RELEASE
On 01/08/2010 @ 10:54 AM, East Hartford Police Department were notified of an attempted robbery at the East Hartford Federal Credit Union, 92 Pitkin Street. Officers were immediately dispatched to the credit union.
Preliminary information obtained from witnesses at the credit union indicate the following; two men wearing all black, gloves and face masks attempted to enter the credit union, but were unable to because of the front door being locked. The credit union keeps its front doors locked and regular customers are buzzed in. (see attached bank surveillance images). After being unable to enter the credit union both men fled the area in a Honda Accord, gold in color. The Honda was intercepted by East Hartford Police Officer Adam Aborn in the area of Darling Street. A slow speed chase ensued into Hartford. Officer Aborn reported three occupants bailed out of the Honda on Sergeant Street and a foot chase ensued. Hartford Police had been advised of the ongoing chase and had units waiting in the area. A
perimeter was immediately set up. Officer John Zavalick and his K-9 Axel were dispatched to the area tracked and located one of the suspects hiding under some debris. After an extensive search of the area, two suspects were taken into custody and transported to East Hartford.
This case remains active and under investigation. The names of the suspects and formal charges will be released at a later time.
