NEWS RELEASE
On 2/10/2010 at approximately 2:36 am East Hartford Police were notified by the Hartford Police that they were chasing a vehicle from their city into East Hartford. East Hartford and Hartford Police Officers chased the suspect vehicle to the end of Riverside Drive (dead end road) into the Goodwin College Campus parking area. The operator of the suspect vehicle began to drive his vehicle recklessly in an attempt to escape from Officers. The suspect vehicle turned his vehicle towards the officers who where outside of their vehicles and accelerated. Officers then drew their duty weapons and fired at the suspect vehicle.
The suspect was treated at the scene by East Hartford Fire Department medics for gun shot wound(s) and transported to Hartford Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening and he is in stable condition.
East Hartford Police Investigators along with the CT. State Police Eastern District Major Crime Unit, are conducting an investigation into this shooting. Inspectors with the Hartford State's Attorney's office are also providing assistance.
