Our Police K-9s have always been winners. Since 1992 we have held top positions in the Connecticut Police K-9 Olympics, held in Storrs, Ct.
The Annual CT K-9 Olympics competition has been held for the past 14 years. For 11 of those years, we have taken 1st place awards. In 2005, we again took the top spot. Officer Steven Grossi and his dog Odin, competing for their first time, took 1st place honors and Officer John Zavalick and Raven took 3rd place honors. Officer Robert Kornfeld and Friday took awards for Top Dog in Obedience and Most Experienced Handler categories. There was only 1 year in 14 that East Hartford did not have a canine team in the top 3. At the 10th annual competition, East Hartford took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
Here's a little history;
Officer Robert Kornfeld and K-9 Luke took 1st place 3 times.
Officer William Proulx and K-9 Bruno took 1st place 4 times.
Officer John Zavalick and K-9 Raven took 1st place 3 times.
Officer Steven Grossi and K-9 Odin took 1st place honors on his first competition.
During the Las Vegas K-9 trails in 2001, the K-9 unit took 2nd place over all.
